 On 5th March, 2016 Mr. Tom Malinowski, United States Assistance Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor interacted with the Political Science Students. Prof. Enos Njeru, Principal College of Humanities and Social sciences welcomed The United States Secretary in the College; speaking during the event the Principal noted that The University of Nairobi will continue to strengthen good relationships with the United States Government.

Ms. Rose Gottemoeller Speaking During the Event

A team of US government officials led by Ms. Rose Gottemoeller, the Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security have interacted with students and staff mainly from the Department of Political Science.

Ms. Gottemoeller spoke on a wide range of issues on international security ranging from terrorism and arms control. She said that regions such as the horn of Africa, Burundi, Syria and Yemen among others needed more international attention.  Ms. Gotten Moeller said the US had put forward measures to combat youth radicalization, violence and terror activities. She congratulated Kenyan soldiers working with AMISON in Somalia in the fight against terror group Al Shabaab.
