Objectives
- To expose students to the major issues in International Relations.
- To provide those already in policy-making and policy-implementation positions in state and non-state agencies with the skills and tools necessary to make sound decisions on issues affecting their countries’ relations with other units in the international system.
- To prepare students for careers in international organizations, diplomatic offices and national offices that handle international affairs

- Rationale
- Changes in the International environment have led to new findings by researchers which need to be taken into account by the syllabi in international relations.
- New insights have come forth that inform our way of thinking about global interactions. Theories have been challenged and revised.

Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements
- The common regulations governing the Masters degree in all Faculties in the University of Nairobi shall apply.
Applicants eligible for admission must be:
(a) holders of a Bachelors degree of at least Lower Second Honours in any relevant field in Humanities and Social Sciences from University of Nairobi or from equivalent institution recognized by the University of Nairobi senate.
(b) holders of a Bachelor degree with a pass or an equivalent qualification plus a post-graduate Diploma in a relevant field, from the University of Nairobi or an equivalent institution recognized by the University of Nairobi senate.
(c) holders of a Bachelor degree with a pass or an equivalent qualification from the university of Nairobi or an equivalent institution recognized by the University of Nairobi senate who have relevant work experience for at least two years
