Overview

Philosophy

The Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science program intends to provide students with an opportunity to pursue advanced studies as well as engage in independent research in political science.

 

Rationale

Providing opportunities to students who wish to specialize and pursue academic careers in Political Science and Public Administration.

Objective

  • Equipping students with appropriate skills and knowledge that can enable them to critically investigate and predict political events, both nationally and globally, and
  • Producing a pool of political scientists and public administrators that can contribute to the political and administrative development of their respective countries.

MODE OF STUDY - EVENING ONLY

  1. The Common regulations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in all the faculties of the University of Nairobi shall apply.
  2. The following shall be eligible for admission
  1. A holder of a Masters degree from the University of Nairobi or any other institution recognized by the University of Nairobi senate; with a background in Political Science.
  2. In either case, the applicant must be able to produce evidence (concept note), to the satisfaction of Senate, of his/her relevant disciplinary background and capacity to carry out original research.
