NUPOSSA ATTENDS A DEBATE ON EAST AFRICAN INTEGRATION AT CUEA

Our students' Organization NUPOSA has lead the University students to a workshop entitled the 3rd EAC UNIVERSITY STUDENTS DEBATE ON REGIONAL INTEGRATION ON, which took place between 3rd-5th September 2014 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).The event attracted students from more than seven universities across the East African region, including Rwanda,Tanzania,Uganda and Kenya.

 

The students were taken to task to discuss and debate on the challenges facing regional integration efforts in Africa. The event was opened by the EAC Secretary General Ambassador Richard Sezibera, accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs of CUEA. Other dignitaries included the EAC Secretariat Head of Political Affairs Ms Isabella Wafubwa and and the event moderator, John Sibi Okumu.

 

The speakers enlightened the students on the progress that has been made by the leaders of the community member countries to integrate the region. The Secretary General pleaded with the students to lead in research in finding the best route to take towards regional integration. He was optimistic that integration is possible as it has been in other regions of the world.
